Oaklands is at an exciting point in its development; we are currently working towards expansion and full school relocation to a purpose built new school in Hounslow for September 2018. Once full, Oaklands will operate on two sites, will have primary, secondary and college departments.

We are currently looking for apprentice teaching assistants who possess good basic education skills and a strong desire to develop their skills working with young people who have learning difficulties.

Apprentices will support the teacher and teaching assistants in delivering education to a small group of pupils with severe learning and physical disabilities. They will work towards NVQ level 2 in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools during their first year and can then progress onto the advanced apprenticeship to achieve NVQ Level 3. Apprentices are required to attend West Thames College on Wednesday evenings from 4pm.

Applicants must be physically fit and willing to undertake personal care including toileting and feeding.

This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check and references being received. All positions are subject to the satisfactory completion of a 26 working week probation period.

Pay Scale:                £7090 per annum (£5.05 per hour) in year one, rising to National Minimum Wage  in 2nd year of apprenticeship     

 

Hours of work:        36 hours per week, 39 weeks a year. (Term time only plus INSET days)

                                8.45am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday in school plus 6 hours paid study time

Contract:                Apprenticeship contract. Fixed Term until 31st August 2018 initially
