A sensory diet is a carefully designed, personalised activity plan that provides the sensory input a person needs to stay focused and organised throughout the day.

Each student is unique and will have sensory needs specific to them. Each student is assessed by the Occupational Therapist who then devises an individual sensory diet programme for them.

This “diet” aims to provide the right amount of sensory input to satisfy their sensory needs, and help them to maintain an optimal level of alertness. This helps the student to deal with the demands and stresses their daily activities and environments place on them.

When a sensory diet is integrated into a student's daily routine the student is usually happier and better prepared for learning.
