Music Teacher

Full or Part Time Considered

Pay Scale:              With QTS – MPS or UPS plus SEN point

Without QTS – Unqualified teacher payscale plus SEN point

Oaklands is an excellent special school serving the London Borough of Hounslow that provides specialist education to students with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple difficulties and autism.  From September 2018 we have a Primary school (New Oaks), Secondary school (High Oaks) and a specialist independent SEN College provision (Great Oaks). We can cater for students aged from 4 to 25 across the Oaklands group.

Oaklands is at an exciting point in its development. We recently relocated to our purpose built new school building (close to Osterley Tube Station and other public transport links) that offers state of the art facilities for our students, including a recording studio and performance space. In time, the primary and secondary schools will be based on two sites with New Oaks Primary moving back to Woodlands Road once refurbishment is completed.

We are looking to appoint an inspirational teacher of music, for a minimum of 3 days per week. You  will have the skills and ambition to develop our music curriculum, and be able to utilise the full range of facilities available so that our students can reach their potential to perform and enjoy music. Whilst it is desirable that applicants hold QTS, we will consider applications from those that do not. What is important is that you are passionate about teaching music to SEN students and that you share our belief that our students can make outstanding progress. We can offer a full time contract to the right candidate comprising 3 days music teaching across the school and two days of other teaching.

We value our employees and offer a comprehensive induction and Inset programme, a pension scheme and employee assistance programme along with other wellbeing benefits.

Oaklands is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and anyone applying to work at the school is expected to share this commitment. This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check and references being received. All positions are subject to the satisfactory completion of a 26 working week probation period.
