Therapy at Oaklands

At Oaklands School, we are proud to have a dedicated team of in-house Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists who work directly with our students throughout the school week.

Therapy is not a separate or occasional service here - it's embedded in the very heart of our curriculum. Every student has access to universal therapeutic input, meaning that therapeutic strategies and supports are part of daily routines, classrooms, and learning experiences for all.

Our therapists and teaching teams work closely together to create a learning environment that is responsive to each student’s individual needs. We focus on building independence, nurturing communication in all its forms, and supporting every young person to grow, thrive, and engage with the world around them.

The therapy team also plays a key role in supporting both staff and families. They provide training to school staff and parents, helping everyone better understand and support the needs of our students. Therapists work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that the strategies and supports used in school are carried over into the home, creating consistency and reinforcing progress across settings.

Whether through tailored strategies, adapted environments, or collaborative planning, our integrated approach ensures that therapy supports are meaningful, consistent, and truly student-centred.
